Five Minutes that Matter.

The day goes fast. The alarm rings, and before we know it, we are rushing out the door. Each person in the family goes from one stop to the next, school, work, baseball games, dance classes, and lots of other little things that make it feel like we are never able to all be together. Meals are on the go, and we leave at sunrise and come home after sunset… It is a blessing to be so busy and have so much going on in a single 24 hour period, but boy, do I miss everyone.

I asked myself, what can I do to still make sure that we don’t fall apart as a family with such crazy schedules? And then I just started reflecting on what does work. What does feel like we are still a family?

The 5 minute bedtime story.
The 5 minute prayer.
The 5 minute conversation about daily wins and struggles.
The 5 minute spelling test review.
5 minutes to just CHECK IN.

Checking in on one another and making sure to stay a part of each other’s lives so that we don’t lose the foundation of our family. Take your kids with you to events and travel, and let them be a part of your story and your journey. It creates connection, expands their thinking to DREAM about what life can bring, and as a working mother, it helps them to see who you are and all you do.

This family is my everything, and when we take just 5 minutes every day to connect, share, laugh, and learn, we grow as a family, together and stronger than ever. It is the single most important and most favorite part of my days.

Make 5 minutes count each day with each person in your family. It is the best gift you can give to your days!
